Camp Sunkist

Headed back over after the bluegrass festival to work on a few more things and to help my parents unload a car full of "goodies".  We realized that BS still hadn't seen the house so we asked if RR and he wanted to tag along to see it. During the drive it dawned on me that although RR, BS, and myself are wonderful and safe individuals... one might possibly be slightly scared of us all showing up in the middle of the night wearing black baseball caps. Which brought to mind that I have not yet explained our neighbors aside from Catman, who by the way has been out of commission due to a hernia. Feel better Catman! SO the neighbor who lives directly next to us is F. He is a really sweet older gentleman; friendly, but also forgets who I am at times. He is also the owner of a firearm. This has lead to a small case of paranoia for me...  I have actually taken to screaming out "Hi it's just me!" every time I pull into the driveway regardless of whether or not he has peered his head out of his screen door. For the most part though he seems like he will be a great neighbor.

Anyway, so we arrived at Sunkist before mom and dad did so we gave BS the grand tour and put up curtains. A little advice: masking tape is not the most efficient way to hang curtains. After a while mom and dad showed up with the "goodies". By goodies I mean: a full size regular mattress, three different sized air mattresses, a microwave, a mini-fridge, a coffeemaker, hedge clippers and a 12 pack of beer. Do those people know how to pack or what? it does make me feel like maybe it was better that I didn't grow up camping... I'm also still not sure why my mom gave us so many air mattresses but hey, I'm sure at some point we'll make good use out of them.

Here are some pictures of the "camp grounds" aka the front and back yard.

(the front yard)

(more of the front yard and the out of control Oleander)

(the backyard... the Birds of Paradise that will not die)

(more of the backyard.. KCA <3 the palms)

A super special surprise... the picture of Yosemite that is shellacked on our basement bathroom door:

(amazing)

After a few hours we were completely exhausted and starving so the only logical thing to do was to go to In n Out where we got stuck behind a car that ran out of gas in the drive-thru. Mmhmm, talk about backwards priorities... Anyway, after we laughed at the people pushing the car out of the drive thru and grabbed our food we headed back to the apartment and ate as we tried desperately to stay awake.

The rest of the weekend we will be at bluegrass so we probably won't get much done at the house.... I know... I know...
