After BSB we headed over the our new favorite salvage yard where we picked out the coolest claw foot tub. It's in great condition and the guy who works at the yard fixes them up so for a few extra bucks he said he could strip the claw feet down to the original metal finish and refinish the entire tub. We decided we are going to paint the outside of the tub for a punch of color since we have white subway tile.
Post salvage yard we headed to the house. GS was shocked both by the amount of work needed but also by the utter coolness of Sunkist. She agreed that it is going to be fantastic. We decided to buff up the security a bit so KCA headed to Home Depot for some dowels, deadbolts and a few "Beware of Dog" signs... I suggested in place of traditional Beware of Dog signs we could post these:
While she was gone FedEx showed up with the shower. The FedEx driver although equipped with several dollies and a hydraulic lift says to me "do you have help, you're going to need help..." I said "yeah.. let me grab my friend" I thought he was going to laug himself off of the truck when I brought GS out. He says "you're going to need more help" with a facial expression that also says "and it sure as hell is NOT going to be me" ... GS and I are feeling pretty confident though so we tell him we have it. He's like "it weighs a lot". What he meant was it easily weighed over 500 lbs! Luckily for me there was a Michael Clarke Duncan look alike working on our roof and I was able to beg him to come help. I could tell he also thought this driver sucked. The driver made the 3 of us lift it OFFof the truck despite the aformentioned lift, and carry it a good 200 feet inside where it barely made it intact. In the end though, it survived... the moral of this story... FedEx Sucks and glass showers are heavy.
After the shower delivery, the person who was coming to remove the shed didn't show, and the raccoon specialist didn't show. So we are still the not so proud owners of a rusted out metal shed and a family of raccoons.
(shed? anyone? did we mention it's free?)
Then it was Bluegrass Festival time....
