I took GS to the airport today, which is semi-close to our new house. I did manage to get completely lost, but did figure out that our exit only exists on one side of the freeway. Anyway I finally made it to the house and called MC. He was busy until noon so I decided I would go pick out paint for the tub. I drove to the furthest Benjamin Moore store I could have but it was the only one I knew of, and I have yet to surrender to the world of smart phones. It was pretty cool because KCA was able to look up the colors on the computer and we texted through the process of elimination. The color we settled on- "spectra". We think it will look pretty awesome and give the bathroom a punch of color.
After driving and getting lost several times on my way back to the house, I met up with MC. I showed him all of our bathroom stuff, and I'm pretty sure he think's we're crazy. He asked where the vanity was... I pointed to the large piece of furniture in our living room... he raised his eyebrows.. he asked where the bathtub was... I said its a clawfoot and it's getting painted.... he raised his eyebrows... I explained to him we were going to only have one sink basin but two sink faucets... he raised his eyebrows... By the time we got through the tile and flooring I was pretty sure his eyebrows were relocating permanently....
We talked about the kitchen which requires him installing a new gas line, installing a range hood, the dishwasher.
We talked about the master bedrom window, which is getting enlarged and replaced. He explained the current wall is plaster so the entire wall will have to be taken down and then reframed.
Then he asked me what our "priorities" were. Our priorities? My mind started racing. The bedroom window will create so much dust and is in the bedroom that it would be a pretty huge mess to have it done while living there.. not to mention we wouldn't be able to really move in if we couldn't set up our bedroom. The laundry is important as there aren't laundromats in nature and my slacks collection while amazing in its own right is not big enough to last me more than a few days of work. The kitchen is pretty necessary considering I didn't grow up camping and have not mastered the art of cooking eggs over an open fire- and although KCA did in fact grow up camping if you think she's taking over the cooking.. well just.. haha.. I'm positive that wont be happening. Then of course that leaves us with the bathroom...
Before I could even let myself begin to imagine living there without a working bathroom I stopped.
I laughed and replied, "everything but the dishwasher"
